Getting involved
Be part of SCOTO
SCOTO is a Cooperative and Company Limited by Guarantee. As a cooperative we are owned and managed by our members.

Our approach to membership is to be inclusive with voting members being those who are practicing community tourism within Scotland and investing in their local community.

We also have a non-voting associate category for groups and organisations that are developing new Community Tourism projects which are not yet open.

We will also welcome other businesses and organisations able to support what we and our members do and DMOs that align with our principles.

Our smallest but equally important category is for individuals working within or interested in Community Tourism who can access and contribute to our networks and resources.

Diane Smith, Moray Walking & Outdoor Festival

“Like other community run organisations, we are volunteers/free-lancers working a few hours a week. So it's hard to keep up with the latest opportunities, examples of good practice or innovative ideas, support and potential funding. By providing a network for similarly focused organisations, SCOTO will fill that gap.”

Emma Guy, CLT Participant & SCOTO Director

“The strength for me is in the peer to peer network, and I'm keen for this to be an area where we all connect, people engage, and we tackle the challenges and opportunities together- I think SCOTO is the perfect vehicle for this
