Awards Benefits - why entering awards is good for you!

Applying for awards can sometimes feel like an afterthought, but the potential rewards are immense. Winning or even being nominated can significantly raise your organisation’s profile, boosting awareness of your initiatives and achievements within the wider community and beyond.

Join us to hear from nominees and winners from the latest regional Thistle Awards who will share their insights on why they applied and the rewarding (and often unexpected!) benefits they’ve experienced.

We'll also have an update on SCOTO news and events.

In light of the VisitScotland announcement on the closure of all remaining VICs by 2026, we have decided to provide a monthly online ‘CHAT’ over the summer. These will specifically explore what some of our communities have already done to provide visitor information and offering tips to any community affected by the closures – or simply wanting to enhance visitor information provision in their local area.

The SCOTO Network has many community-run hubs and information points across Scotland that have tailored their services to meet the needs of both locals and visitors, and we look forward to showcasing a number of them to inspire you.

For our final summer conversation, we will be showcasing the Discover Cullen Tourist Office, which is entirely managed by dedicated volunteers. This organisation has been instrumental in enhancing Cullen's reputation as a friendly family destination and once you get there the Centre provides a warm and friendly local welcome to all visitors. It’s a great example of how to set up a Visitor Information Centre with volunteers, sharing their experiences and aspirations
