Conversations - Community Visitor Info Points

Time & Date:

6 pm - 7 pm,  Thursday 29 Aug

What:

Showcase and conversations/questions

Where:

In light of the VisitScotland announcement on the closure of all remaining VICs by 2026, we have decided to provide a monthly online ‘CHAT’ over the summer. These will specifically explore what some of our communities have already done to provide visitor information and offering tips to any community affected by the closures – or simply wanting to enhance visitor information provision in their local area.

The SCOTO Network has many community-run hubs and information points across Scotland that have tailored their services to meet the needs of both locals and visitors, and we look forward to showcasing a number of them to inspire you.

For our final summer conversation, we will be showcasing the Discover Cullen Tourist Office, which is entirely managed by dedicated volunteers. This organisation has been instrumental in enhancing Cullen's reputation as a friendly family destination and once you get there the Centre provides a warm and friendly local welcome to all visitors. It’s a great example of how to set up a Visitor Information Centre with volunteers, sharing their experiences and aspirations

What:

SCOTO Online Gathering

Where:

For our next SCOTO Online Gathering, we’ll be sharing inspiring initiatives from across the SCOTO Network. These are practical examples of how organisations have boosted their visibility or developed new income streams to support their long-term sustainability. Drawing on the expertise within the SCOTO Network, this session offers a unique opportunity to learn directly from those actively making a difference on the ground.

We will of course have information about our AGM in December and our third SCOTO Annual Gathering in February 2025!
